How to renew your freedom pass

All freedom passes should have been renewed by 31 March 2008. You cannot use your pass beyond this date if you have not renewed it as it will no longer be valid for travel and you will be required to pay the correct fare for your journey.

If you have never had a freedom pass and are applying for the first time click here.

A. If you have a disabled person's freedom pass

If you are disabled and need to renew your pass, you need to contact your local borough council directly.


B. If you have an older person's freedom pass

1) Where you need to apply:

If you live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Sutton or Wandsworth, you renew your pass directly from the council. Contact your council now for details of how, when and where to renew.

If you live in the these boroughs (see list below) you will need to renew your freedom pass at the Post Office.

Barnet, Bexley, Brent , Bromley, Camden, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Westminster or the City of London.

2) Make sure you have all the right documents with you including a completed application form - available from the Post Office or download from here If you do not bring the correct documents you will not be able to renew your pass.

What you need to bring to the Post Office to renew your pass

Remember you must bring one example from the list as proof of address:

When you renew your pass, you will not be issued with a new one but will have a 31 March 2010 date sticker attached to your current pass to make it valid for a further two years.


How do I renew my pass if it has been lost or stolen?
