TfL Trains
You can ONLY use your Freedom Pass on these lines AFTER 9AM ON WEEKDAYS.
You can use your Freedom Pass at any time on weekends and bank holidays.
Your Older Person's Freedom pass is valid on all TfL lines.

National Rail
Your Freedom Pass allows you to travel in Standard Class on most rail services in London.
You can ONLY use your Freedom Pass on these lines AFTER 9:30AM ON WEEKDAYS.
You can use your Freedom Pass at any time on weekends and bank holidays.
The trains services where your Freedom Pass is NOT VALID are:
- East Midlands Trains
- Grand Central
- Hull Trains
- Gatwick Express (Extension ticket option available)
- Heathrow Express
- London North Eastern Railway
- Southeastern high speed services to and from St Pancras International and Stratford International
If you are travelling with the above-mentioned operators without a valid ticket, you may receive a penalty fare.
Extension tickets
Extension tickets are required when travelling beyond the Freedom Pass boundaries.
An extension ticket is a normal train ticket starting from the Freedom Pass boundary to the station of your destination. You can find the boundary lines on the Freedom Pass Validity Map below.
You must buy a separate extension ticket before you travel to avoid receiving a penalty fare.
Always show your Freedom Pass with your photograph at the ticket office when buying extension tickets. Holders of Senior and Disabled Persons Railcards may be able to obtain a discount on the price of extension tickets.
Buses
In London
Your Freedom Pass provides you with free travel on all TfL bus services.
You can ONLY use your Freedom Pass on all TfL buses AFTER 9AM ON WEEKDAYS.
You can use your Freedom Pass at any time on weekends and bank holidays.
Local buses elsewhere in England
Your Freedom Pass is valid on most other bus services in England. The Rose printed on your card represents the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS).
You can ONLY use your Freedom Pass on non-London buses BETWEEN 9:30AM - 11PM ON WEEKDAYS.
You can use your Freedom Pass at any time on weekends and bank holidays.
We strongly advise you to contact the bus operating company before you travel to check the validity of your pass if you are at all uncertain.
Freedom Pass is NOT valid:
- On most intercity coach services
- In Wales
- In Scotland
- In Northern Ireland
- On trams outside of London
- On National Rail Services outside of London
River Services
River bus operated by Uber Boats
Freedom Pass holders can receive 50% off all Uber Boats by Thames Clippers fares. This includes a 50% discount on River Roamer tickets, single tickets and season tickets.
River Tours (Sightseeing)
You may get a discount on some River Tour sightseeing services but you must check with the individual operator.
The Woolwich Ferry
Free to all users at all times.
IFS Cloud Cable Car
A concession fare is available with a Freedom Pass. Concession tickets can only be purchased from the ticket office and not online.
